A central location and a full-service, 24-hour Internet cafe on the first floor make the Hotel Calafate a good value in Punta Arenas. This is really the only moderately priced "hotel" (as opposed to a funkier hostel) in the city, and, therefore, rooms feature comfortable mattresses rather than foam beds, and a more standardized hotel design that is a little on the frilly side nonetheless. Most doubles, triples, and quadruples are reasonably spacious (some with private bathrooms, some with shared); however, there are two tiny rooms that go for just $13 per person. The staff is helpful in assisting with travel plans.
