The Caulín Lodge is not a woodsy hotel, but eight cabins fronting an isolated beach and backed by a forest called the Fundo Los Cisnes, a private ecological reserve. These combining factors make Caulín the best choice for visitors who seek quiet, undeveloped surroundings. The cabins at Caulín are more suitable for visitors with a private vehicle because the hamlet of Caulín is about 25km (16 miles) from Ancud,
All wooden cabins face a splendid estuary that's home to flamingos and black-necked swans; the cabins are rustic but comfortable and clean, and have kitchens. Cabins have two or three bedrooms, one with a full-size bed and the other(s) with a twin and a bunk bed.
The spacious living area has wood floors and is warmed by a cancahua, a ceramic fireplace typical of the region. There is a wood-hewn, cozy pub/restaurant, although a few minutes' walk down the beach sits the popular Ostras Caulín.
