Part of the Panamericana Hoteles chain, the Hostería Ancud is as upscale as it gets in Ancud, and it is the logical choice for travelers who are not comfortable sleeping in a hostel or a funky little hotel.
It fronts the Gulf of Quetalmahue and is next to the ruins of the old Fort San Antonio. All rooms come with a partial view of the ocean, as does the airy, split-level lounge and restaurant and the large outdoor deck. Rooms are tight but offer all the necessary comforts.
The interior bedroom walls are made of polished alerce logs, and the lobby is adorned with woodcarvings from the region. The hostería also has one of the better restaurants in town, as well as a cozy bar with a giant fireplace.
